Automatic modeling 3D
MCP controls Blender3D modeling
I used the MCP feature of the online platform Refly to control the local Blender3D for modeling and other editing.

A few days ago, Refly updated the MCP functionality. I have been busy with other things and haven't had time to study it, and coincidentally Claude 4 also came out, so let's try to control Blender3D together.
First of all, MCP, as an AI interface for controlling other software or devices, requires support from each software. Blender has a very good service interface for this—Blender0mcp.
However, the Blender-mcp service is intended for local use, such as having the Claude client or something like Cursor installed on your computer. While this makes it more convenient for applications, it cannot use Refly's canvas logic commands and multi-model capabilities.
At the same time, I also want to explore what the mcp can actually do on the web side.
Installation Setup
Installing and setting it up took a bit of effort, and there are things that need to be installed or set up:
Blender
blender-mcp
supergateway
ngrok
Refly
Of course, it looks like a lot, but each step during installation is only one or two operations, so it's not very troublesome.
I have placed the specific operations directly in this Refly canvas below:

Experience
The installation process went unexpectedly smoothly, of course, it was achieved with the help of friends and GPT.
I tried using Claude3.7 and Claude4 a few times. 3.7 tends to build models on its own, which is relatively coherent but quite rudimentary. In contrast, 4 always directly goes to Hyper3d Rodin to generate models. The quality and texture are better, but the actual models tend to be a bit strange.
I also asked Claude4 to sculpt a human face model for me, and the result... is quite distinctive...
Overall, getting AI to build models directly, especially LLM modeling through MCP, is still a long way from being able to produce effectively.
However, for support tasks, like finding some models on Poly Haven or generating particle effects, it can still save quite a bit of effort.
